Bahamas

History

The Bahamas were a British colony from 1717 until they were granted self-government in 1964.
1969 with it's new mandate from the black population (85% of Bahamians), government negotiated a new constitution with Britain under which the colony became the Commonwealth of the Bahama Islands
1973 the Bahamas became an independent nation.

There is not much that you can't do on or in The Bahamas. You can explore the natural beauty of these islands by plane or by bicycle, enjoy a round of golf, a set of tennis, or a visit to any of the island's shopping arcades or casinos and of course, there is always the old fashion relaxing on a beach, with a good book and refreshing tropical drink.
